Posted by For decades, most working Americans have believed in a myth: That the rich were working on their behalf and that everyone was ‘in this together’. The thinking was that the rich provided the materials and the expertise and the workers did the labor and everyone thrived.
That was a lie. More and more folks are beginning to realize that now. The United States (and many others) is a dictatorship. But not the kind of dictatorship where one person rules with an iron fist. No, we live under a dictatorship of the rich.
The rich – both Republicans and Democrats – pass legislation that solely serves their benefit, no one else’s.
The recent tax cut legislation is proof. The legislation is a massive tax cut for the rich, meaning their wealth will grow even faster than it has already. The world’s billionaires got $1 TRILLION wealthier in 2016 alone. Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest person, gained more than $8 billion in one day alone recently.
The rich’s main propaganda line for more than half a century has been that if governments lowered their taxes, they would be able to hire more workers. That has proven to be a lie.
Since the recent tax cut legislation was passed earlier this year, Comcast, AT&T, Walmart, Toys R Us, Kimberly-Clark and others have laid off thousands of workers.
But this isn’t just about America. It’s about the working class worldwide. The world’s 8 richest individuals have more than half of the entire human population.
This is a war on ALL of us. The rich of the world are poisoning our environment and ability to live healthy lives, they are putting us at war with one another and are increasing their repression of us daily.
Voting in elections won’t get the job done. The rules of elections the rich set up are to favor them in every case. We will need to create our own institutions, such as the Constituent Assembly in Venezuela. We will need to build our own councils and ways to resist.
There is no more time to wait. The rich are waging war against us. It’s time to fight back.
